We had a ton of fun being tourists in Calgary as the Kidney March Kilometre Bomber over the weekend. We toured Calgary like it was the first time we had seen it. Over the 48 Kilometres that we had walked this weekend, we were reminded countless times why this City is so beautiful.

ITS PEOPLE!- As we walked over our circuits of pathways people cheered us on. They would smile, they would say good morning and honk their horns. Some people had recognized the KMB from last weekend's Kilometre Bomb at the Glenmore Reservoir and thanked me for my efforts. Some even asked to take pictures. Although the planned Kidney Marcher Bombs to cheer others on fell through for this weekend, there was still an ask by teams if the Kilometre Bomber would come join there teams for a walk. OF COURSE and what an honor! I am very excited about this, only after one Kidney Marcher Kilometre Bomb that the word is getting out there that the Kilometre Bomber is out there!

THE SCENERY!- In some instances during our walks we didn't even know we were in the City of Calgary. We have a magnificent network of pathways in provincial and municipal parks throughout the city. Some landed us along the river banks where we couldn't be seen but the scenery is well worth the trek.

Today after we walked in Fish Creek park along its banks, I can tell you that there were times I was concerned on the pathway we landed. We ended up following the south side of fish creek along a steep ridge for a good 8 kilometres. There were instances where we were holding onto to tree roots to pull us forward onto a safe passage climbing up the hill. Check out the map. For safety reasons we did not take pictures.

Yesterday, we had a little photo shoot in downtown Calgary in key places. Our 28 kilometre journey was filled with fun landmarks to take pictures of and we had a great day.

Here is a share of our adventure for Kidney March!

Enjoy...

Started off at Sandy Beach and found the Elbow River Pathway to follow through to Stanley Park.

We followed the Elbow River Pathway through to our beautiful Stampede Park.

We followed this pathway and found some hidden treasures in Victoria Park along the way. It led us to Fort Calgary on 9th Avenue SE. We found the old King Edward where we couldn't resist the photo op!

We then paid Major Nenshi a visit at City Hall just after walking through Olympic Plaza, that lead us to our Calgary Tower. We didn't want to cause any disturbances at City Hall and did not enter but snuck in a shot or two.

Amazing restoration work at the old City Hall. Can't wait to see it when it is done.

Go Flames Go!

Restored Center Street Lions resting at City Hall!

Our City Landmark, The Calgary Tower.

The big Head at the Bow Tower Sky Scraper was calling a visit from the Kilometre Bomber. Just saying! We had fun!

We followed Center Street through China Town got to the Center Street Bridge, where it led us to the to the Bow River Pathways. We landed at the Memorial Peace Bridge.

Had to take a pic of the Kilometre Bombers side kicks and important moral support.

There, we took 14th street back to River Park where we walked to the Glenmore Damn. It was there for the first time hidden along that hill side by the Elbow River bank that we felt the city had left us. By that point we had put over 25 Kilometres in for Kidney March! It was at River Park where we marked our 25 Kilometre Achievement.

A beautiful view from River Park of our City Center where we walked over 25 kilometres.

Our 28 Kilometre route was a City Center Kilometre Bomb for Kidney March!

Today we completed the Kidney March 50 Kilometre Achievement by walking through Fish Creek Provincial Park. An 18 Kilometre walk. As mentioned earlier there were a few sketchy moments and we were reminded that nature remains to be a big part of our city. Its was there again the city also left us. We had a good time hanging out and walking through this beautiful Provincial Park that crosses our Amazing City of Calgary. We finished at exactly 50 Kilometres at St.Mary's University off of Bannister Road.

Until Next Time Calgary!

The Kilometre Bomber is out there looking to Build Awareness Around Kidney March and Kidney Disease but also to fund-raise and to CHEER FELLOW KIDNEY MARCHERS ON!
